Sgraffito

The Sgraffito decoration I use is a technique in which several layers of a colored clay slip are painted over semi-wet, leather hard porcelain. The surface is burnished and then carved through to reveal the white porcelain underneath. The piece is then bisque fired, glazed inside and on rims and re-fired to cone 6 oxidation.
